So There's That Series

So There’s That Vol. 12

{Sort of like  a “Friday Five”  or a “Life Lately” except it’s probably not Friday, and I gave up on the idea of a catchy alliteration. These are some bits and pieces of my glam #postgradlife. See past posts HERE}

1. One Day at a Time

FullSizeRender

The last two week’s since I returned home from Guatemala have been pretty stressful at work. Everything turned out great, they were just a bit stressful…
I was humored that the next page on my quote book knew exactly how I was feeling.

2. Happy 25th Birthday Megan

“Maybe our girlfriends are our soul mates and guys are just people to have fun with.”
– Carrie Bradshaw

From age 18 to 25, we’ve been asking ourselves lately “how did we get here?” Not sure that there’s an actual answer to that, but I know it involves a lot of cheesy memories.

3. Wheel of Musical Impressions

So I’m not really an Ariana Grande fan, but seriously, I have to admit that her musical impressions were really impressive, and funny.

4. T-Swift Love

Tonight my bestie Megan is going to the Taylor Swift concert in Kansas City with tickets that she won on the radio! The grand plan was that I was going to fly there and go with her. Unfortunately it didn’t work out, (but I am going to visit Kansas for a three-day weekend in October!) Over the last few months I have become a little obsessed with all of the guests that she continues to feature at each of her stops, and I can wait to hear about who shows up at this show!

6. K-State Football

People, college football is BACK!

So there is this…

…and then there is this guy.

7. Coach Ego

Hermiston hires Ego as interim boys basketball coach

Almost everything that I love about sports and particularly the game of basketball is because of my Grampy. No matter what it was that my sister and I were involved in from basketball, soccer, cross country and golf to even dance team and FFA, he always played the role of coach and cheerleader, investing in us the best way he could to make sure that we came out on the other side as better people. When I decided to go to college at K-State he immediately became a Wildcats fan, learning stats and hearing big news even before I would hear it on campus. People usually knew that he was the only person whose texts I would respond to during games. Even living so far away from home it allowed us to remain close and share something we both loved. On the outside he’s super passionate about sports, and while I’m very excited to finally see him in the coach’s seat, its not really about that. My Grampy taught us that sports are about investing in other people and challenging yourself. They are about hard work, discipline and committing yourself to something you love.

These kids really don’t know what they are in for this season. I love you Gramps! I can’t wait to discuss your team for a change!

8. Ready for Fall

IMG_2818

It’s slowly starting to feel like fall in D.C. and I am loving this candle that I picked up at Target. It has three layers: pumpkin nutmeg, bonfire nights and vanilla dolce. So far I’m loving it.

9. Basic

Just humor me, and take the quiz. I promise a good laugh.
You know you want to.

So There's That Series

So There’s That Vol. 11

1. Happy Birthday Mom!

With my Mom at Kyla's wedding.
With my Mom at Kyla’s wedding.

 This lady.
Whoever says that parents can’t (or shouldn’t) become your friends are just plain wrong.
She’s funny, sassy, hard working and has a heart of gold.
Today is her birthday and I wish more than anything that I was spending the day with her.

2. Buzzfeed Roommate Video

After I could see straight from laughing so hard I cried I started to get concerned that someone was spying on me and my roommates back in college. My college experience was better than I could have ever asked for and it was because of Kyla and Megan. We had some great laughs and this video, as embarrassing as some of it is to admit, just about perfectly describes what life was like in our apartment.

3. #JanciandJordyDoVegas

Catching a few last rays.
Catching a few last rays.

Last weekend I took my sister to Vegas for her 21st birthday.
I wrote about it and shared some pictures in yesterday’s post.

4. James Corden Carpool Karaoke

I’m really not sure why I am just now getting around to including this. I LOVE James Corden. I’m a Doctor Who fan and his character “Craig” is by far my favorite reoccurring guest. I was pretty excited when he got his own talk show except for the fact that its the late late show, which is a bit much for me. So I watch a few every now and then online and catch a few clips on YouTube. My favorite bit is his carpool karaoke. Now I have never been a Biebs fan but people, this video is hysterical. I also really enjoy his carpools with Iggy Azalea and Jennifer Hudson.

6. Friday Jam Session

Friday Jam Session
I started up my Friday Jam posts again after realizing that it was something that I missed, but decided to change the format a bit to hopefully make it a bit easier to stay consistent. So my question is, what are your thoughts? What questions need to be added to the list? What should definitely stay?

7. Good luck Janci!

Jancz & Sissy

My baby sister is leaving home today for her senior year of college at Lewis-Clark State. She’s a kinesiology major and on the women’s golf team. We’re proud of you Janci L’Amour! Good luck this year!

8. K-State Football
Ok two things…
So Jordy Nelson was before my time as a Kansan and K-Stater, but like most things in Kansas, that is a detail that has become a part of the grey area where I feel like I have always been connected to Kansas in some way. And even if that weren’t true, how could you not like Jordy Nelson?
See what I mean in this article:
An NFL player who has made $28 million spends 12 hours a day working on his family farm in the off-season

And speaking of K-State Football…
