  • My Favorite Words.

'The LORD will fight for you; you need only to be still' -Exodus 14:14

"You've got to know your limitations. I found out what mine were when I was twelve. I found out that there weren't too many limitations, if I did it my way." - Johnny Cash

"Courage is the ladder that all virtues are mounted on." - Mr. R. Crosby Kemper, Jr.

"It's your choice, Ace. People can live a hundred years without really living for a minute. You climb up here with me, it's one less minuteyou haven't lived." - Gilmore Girls

"Faith, it does not make things easy, it makes them possible" - Luke 1:37

"I am not bound to win, but I am bound to be true. I am not bound to succeed, but I am bound to live by the lights that I have." -Abraham Lincoln

"Writing is a struggle against silence." - Carlos Fuentes

"At the end of the day faith is a funny thing. It turns up when you don't really expect it. It’s like one day you realize that the fairy tale may be slightly different than you dreamed. The castle, well, it may not be a castle. And it’s not so important happy ever after, just that its happy right now. See once in a while, once in a blue moon, people will surprise you, and once in a while people may even take your breath away." - Grey's Anatomy

"Imperfection is beauty. Madness is genius. And it's better to be absolutely ridiculous than absolutely boring. And when it comes down to it, I let them think what they want. If they care enough to bother with what I do, then I'm already better than them." - Marilyn Monroe

“It’s not that I believe everything happens for a reason. Some things are meant to be broken. Imperfect. Chaotic. It’s the universe’s way of providing contrast. There have to be a few holes in the road. It’s how life is." – Sarah Dessen, The Truth About Forever

"Opportunity knocks; that doesn't mean you have to knock the door off the hinges." - Sam Herringshaw

"Grace doesn’t depend on suffering to exist, but where there is suffering you will find grace in many facets and colors." – William P. Young, The Shack

‎"You're only given a little spark of madness. You mustn't lose it." - Robin Williams

"I think I'd miss you even if I'd never met you."-The Wedding Date

"If you don't even believe in the possibility of magic, you'll never ever find it." - Castle

So There’s That: Vol. 8

 {Sort of like  a “Friday Five”  or a “Life Lately” except it’s probably not Friday, and I gave up on the idea of a catchy alliteration. These are some bits and pieces of my glam #postgradlife.}

1. Resident of Virginia

IMG_2211

So this finally happened, and my new driver’s license is on its way in the mail. All I can say is that since the Virginia standard plates are so boring, it’s a good thing I have that purple frame to help spruce it up.

2. Window Garden

IMG_2199

When I moved out here from Kansas I got rid of the three little plants I had, but knew that I would want to eventually replace them.
I may have went a little overboard (you can stop rolling your eyes at me mom)…but I’m so excited!
This time I got some mint and basil, and have already started to use them!

3. Spring/Summer Silk Arrangement

IMG_2206

Last fall I got this cute butter crock at an antique store in Kansas and designed a silk fall/winter arrangement to go in it that also went along with my normal living room décor. Since my move I had been dragging my feet to replace and update it. I already had the red daisies, wheat and some of the sunflowers from a different decoration that I didn’t put up in my new place, and the rest I picked up at Michaels. Because the flowers were smaller, this one was a lot more difficult and the wheat was a pain to work with because it sheds easily. But I was extremely happy with the final result. It even reminds me a bit of Kansas!

4. Shut Up and Dance

Walk The Moon’s “Shut Up and Dance” is definitely my jam this summer, so this video,  compiling dozens of infamous movie dance scenes with this song, just makes my dancer heart happy. It was fun to see how many of the movies I could name.

5. Mondays

Minion monday

Last week I shared this meme from my co-worker on Instagram. This is usually how I feel about Mondays. Later that day I read this article, “What Successful People Do On Monday Mornings.” Pretty general, but solid advice. All things that I could definitely work on.

6. Gilmore Girls Reunion

To know me, is to know how much I love Gilmore Girls. I grew up watching (and re-watching) it with my mom and sister, and really think it was something that helped us grow closer together…and vicariously become a little too sassy for our own good. Soon after I left for college, my mom got both Janci and I our own full series set, just so the three of us wouldn’t have to share the set that was being left at home.

Anyway this last weekend there was a Gilmore Girls ATX Festival Reunion Panel featuring almost the entire regular cast. As a true fangirl I watched the entire 45 minute video and spent most it shamelessly freaking out a little. If you don’t care for Gilmore Girls, we can’t be friends I don’t know if I’d recommend it, but if you’re fan I suggest busting out the popcorn! Now to decide which of my favorite episodes to go back and watch…

7. National Gallery of Art

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Since my move, I’ve been dying to get to the museums. I’ve previously been to a few of them during my trips to D.C. as a student, but those visits were always rushed and in my mind, museums are not really group activities. These museums are HUGE, so I’m pretty excited that I now the chance to go at my own pace, see what I want to see and come back if I want to. I know…major nerd alert. Anyway, this past weekend I went to the National Gallery of Art, which is just one of many art galleries/museums here in D.C. It was great, but after three hours, I had to give up and resolve to come back another day. There was just too much to see!

So There’s That

  1. I’m “new” (last August) to the DC area and I have a long list of museums to visit too! Glad you had fun! P.S. The Gilmore Girls reunion made me so happy this week 🙂

    • I love that the DC area always has people coming and going! I think it almost makes the transition that much easier, because you find more people to relate too. With that said, send any tips and tricks my way!

      • I think the same thing!! It’s nice to meet so many different kinds of people too! And you do the same. I’m always up for new adventures 🙂
