In Pictures: Memorial Day at Arlington

I just blogged not too long ago about going to Arlington National Cemetery on Armed Forces Day but I wanted to return for my first Memorial Day in D.C.

This time my roommate joined me, and while we didn’t make it in time for the ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldiers (they closed off access once POTUS arrived,) it was still a beautiful day to explore parts of the cemetery we hadn’t seen before and just take it all in.

It was very humbling to be there surrounded by so many families visiting a loved one. I was quickly reminded to only be thankful for those fallen and those still out there serving our country, but to also think about those on the home front and who have to carry on once their own soldier has been laid to rest.

Here are a few snapshots to share from my day.
